A family man, overloaded work named Bob Munro (Robin Williams), his wife Jamie (Cheryl Hines), their daughter 15 years old Cassie (Joanna "JoJo" Levesque) and their son 12 years Carl (Josh Hutcherson) feel an urgent need to spend time together.
After he promised he would lead the family on a vacation in Hawaii, Bob abruptly changes the plan, but without telling anything. But adversity has a quality in uniting even the most dysfunctional members and families and every obstacle that Munro family lives in a strange way help them become a true family again.
